Senior Accounts
Payable Specialist
What was your selection process like?
I think of it very positively, even though it did not go exactly as expected. The original position I applied for was taken by someone else, but since we hit it off during the interview, I received a different offer. From the first day I started, I felt that I was being well taken care of - my colleagues showed and explained everything to me and the supervisor immediately presented me with a very good and clear training plan. No one really threw me into invoicing and waited to see if I would sink or swim. I am sure it is thanks to our teams being based on personal ties and excellently put together.
What are the career opportunities at Atlas Copco Services?
If a person is looking for career growth, there are many opportunities for it. The company is growing, so new positions are created very often; we also have lot of colleagues on maternity leave. I moved from my basic role to senior within two years, which is a usual pace. But now, paradoxically, I belong among those who are not looking for another move, for a simple reason - I would hate to leave our super team. 😊
How do you perceive the learning opportunities?
In addition to the initial training plan, which is a matter of course, there are really many opportunities to gain more knowledge at various training events. In addition, it is possible to improve your foreign language skills in the courses, and I am personally happy about the possibility of training with our internal lecturers, who know better than external ones what will help us at work. I also highly appreciate training about personal topics and well-being. I perceive that the company is not only interested in the exact hours I work here, but also cares that I work comfortably and don’t burn out over time.
How does cooperation work with us?
Our informal approach, together with the Swedish culture, makes for a really great atmosphere here. I know that I can come to any manager or colleague for help or advice, and I don't have to feel uncomfortable about it. I like to say that I don't have the dream job, but I work at the dream company. I still remember how the manager delivered monitors to our homes during the pandemic to make it more comfortable for us to work. Also, joint meetings have a completely different charge - in my past job, I went to them nervously because they often ended with a dismissal, but here, the very first meeting included sandwiches and cake. 😊 Of course, we don't always have those, but the relaxed atmosphere and laughter occur every time.
What might the job challenges at Atlas Copco Services be?
If a person cannot think in a complex or analytical way and is still more of an individualist, there will be many challenges for them. It is not a job for poets. Every day is different – sometimes you need to get really busy, other times there is enough space to attend a training course or go out for coffee with colleagues. But we certainly appreciate those who are inquisitive and open-minded and have discipline. The main thing is to remember that everyone is part of a team and we all have a common goal.
Sales Operations
Manager
What was your selection process like?
At that time, I was starting in the position of team leader and my selection process was in three rounds. The first round was focused on the role and the presentation of the work itself; they asked about my experience. At the second meeting, I met with our general manager; we also talked about some vision and how I could continue to develop in the company. I then had my third interview with the HR manager, and at that we discussed benefits and practical matters.
What are the career opportunities at Atlas Copco Services?
From the beginning, I was absolutely amazed at the possibilities offered here. I started as a team leader, and the scope of the regions that I was in charge of gradually grew. Now I work as the Sales Operations Manager, which seems like great progress after three years. I see it with others as well, that we have someone here who starts as a coordinator and after a year can be in the job role of junior team leader if they are interested in growing and learning new things.
How do you perceive the learning opportunities?
In the three years I've been here, I've had a lot of interesting training. Be it languages, various kinds of product training, leadership, or personal development training. Some are organised online for the entire Atlas Copco Group, some are held locally in Brno and adapted to the needs of our team. I can get training in the field I want, and it makes sense to me. At the same time, employees do not have to actively look for something themselves, but often, the options are offered to them.
How does cooperation work with us?
Collaboration is great. We are all on a first-name basis and we want people to feel comfortable asking questions or speaking their minds. It's a safe environment and it makes for a nice open atmosphere even at non-work events. Another thing that I find quite unusual is how many volunteer activities one can experience here and do something for society as well.
What might the job challenges at Atlas Copco Services be?
I think the biggest challenge is that you can't expect to be doing one thing the same way six months from now, or a year from now. As the world and business are changing, the emphasis is on personal flexibility and an open-minded approach. So you need to constantly use your brain, be open and ask questions. That's why we work a lot with newcomers at the beginning so that they don't feel as though they're being thrown into the water and forced to swim.
Assistant Business
Controller
What was your selection process like?
I was referred by a friend, so perhaps my interview was fast-tracked, but I remember the process being quite quick. I started in the company in an entry level position, so I only had one interview and in the room was the Team Leader, Manager and the representative from HR. I appreciated that the interview had a balanced level of professionalism and informality, no feel of intimidation. The next day I received a call with the offer and started on the next joining date.
What are the career opportunities at Atlas Copco Services?
Since joining Atlas Copco Services in 2017, I have held 4 different roles, which goes to show how many opportunties there are in this company for growth. I started as a Cash Collector for the US. From there I moved to Team leader, then Business Analyst, and finally to Assistant Businees Controller, where I reside now and along the way I had a lot of support from my line managers.
How do you perceive the learning opportunities?
Training and learning is all around us, even if you don’t notice it. I participate in organized training programs such as ACCA or courses for skills develpoment in our internal system, however the more impactful learning for me has been on the job. I was the Analyst for Customer Center South when we acquired a Spanish distributor and became involved in this project. From the itinial Due Diligance all the way to our first closing after SAP integration, there were many new things learned.
How does cooperation work with us?
I have made some great friends here. There are plenty of spaces to meet and interact with colleagues at work as well as many events organized outside of working hours to foster good relationships. This is just one example of how Atlas Copco’s culture is not just words on paper, but you can see it in action.
What might the job challenges at Atlas Copco Services be?
When you arrive at Atlas Copco Services things are very structured. For me it is comforting to know the rules, guidlines and boudaries, but yet have autonomy to work within those parameters. For someone joining from smaller companies or right out of school, this might be something to get used to.
Senior Data
Engineer
What was your selection process like?
Personally, I consider the selection process very pleasant even in retrospect, I felt comfortable the whole time and I try to do the same today, now that I am "on the other side".
In the first round, HR presents the role to the applicants. This is followed by a meeting with a superior or a senior colleague, testing technical knowledge. We also assign the applicants real tasks, so that they have the opportunity to try out the work in the interface that they will then use, and evaluate whether they would enjoy it.
What are the career opportunities at Atlas Copco Services?
Very diverse in IT. After about half a year, I had the opportunity to get involved in the design and architecture of the platform that was then emerging. It was a great opportunity leading to an internal transfer to a new team. Now, I prefer a horizontal career, mainly thanks to the opportunity to use the latest technologies. But we also have opportunities to move abroad as part of teams, which is also great.
How do you perceive the learning opportunities?
We work with the latest technologies, at the very limit of what is possible in the cloud. So I learn every day😊 In addition, we have training and workshops from Microsoft and Databricks, and we participate in conferences. We also have excellent soft skills trainers. I learned, for example, how to present in a more business-like and less technical way, which is needed when communicating with stakeholders. Training such as time management, stress management, or how to avoid burnout can also be well applied to personal life.
How does cooperation work with us?
Even though we are a corporation, our company culture and relationships are very friendly. From this point of view, I often feel as though I am in a start-up. Communication is very open and transparent, regardless of whether you are talking to a manager or a colleague.
We often work in hybrid teams, so communication is online, but it works brilliantly. I have been part of two teams and had two managers and in both cases the cooperation was very good.
What might the job challenges at Atlas Copco Services be?
Being flexible is key. We have a very agile environment; data and technology are changing literally under our hands and it is necessary to adapt to that. At the same time, we are not a purely IT company, so a person coming from an IT environment will have to get used to it a bit, but this again leads to greater freedom in how to set up certain processes.
Another challenge is the frequent acquisitions of the Atlas Copco Group, where there is a need to integrate data from the 1990s system used by the acquired company into our cloud. But that is also an interesting job.
Often, the majority of your team is abroad, so you don't go out for a beer with them after work. But most of us working here in Brno are in the same situation, so we get together across teams 😊
